How to Choose the Best Mattress Store

September 22, 2009

Searching for a mattress store is much like searching for anything else — the quality of your selection will be directly proportional to the quality of your alternatives.  In other words, the more alternatives you consider, the better your ultimate choice will be; on the flip side, if you do not consider any alternatives, you will likely be overlooking stores with a better selection or better service, or stores that are more convenient or less expensive, thereby leaving your fate to chance.

When it comes time to buy a mattress, many people can think of 1 or 2 mattress stores off-hand, but are surprised to find that they are only considering a tiny portion of the mattress stores in their area.  Before you buy your mattress, be sure to use our Mattress Store Locator to find a comprehensive map of all the mattress stores in your area.  Alternatively, you can search by city using our easy Mattress Retailer Directory.  From there, you can click on any store to read more about their stores, where they are located and what products they carry.

Once you’ve chosen the store(s) you plan to visit, you may also want to check out some of our helpful shopping guides, such as our five-step guide to buying a mattress, our general mattress buying tips, or our suggestions for how to get the best deal on a mattress.

Finally, when you get to the store, please be sure to tell them you found them on Best Bed Guide.  This way, they’ll know to keep us updated on any changes to the information we have about them on the site — and you’ll be playing a small part in helping to make Best Bed Guide an even better information resource for future mattress shoppers!

Great website you have! keep up the good work!

The store locator is really a great option. Most people used to find stores that have websites. With the store locator, people will be able to find stores that don’t have yet a website. Thanks for this great tip.

Sounds easier than it is with the mattress business being such a copy-cat industry.

It’s amazing how closely each business will copy each other, down to the very same color schemes on their ads and much of the product stock images come from the manufacturer.

  4. Hi the Mattress Store Locator is really much resourceful to anybody from wide selection of locations. Thanks for their review here.

  5. The hardest issue we have is getting people to see our furniture store in the same light as a mattress store. We have the same quality products, better prices, and very good service.

    Any thoughts or suggestions.

    Thanks

This is some great information on searching for a mattress store. You don’t purchase a mattress every year so a little research can go a long way.

An important thing to remember when it comes to buying in mattress stores is never to be pressured into buying one. Sales representatives can be too pushy and they might sidetrack you with some nice discounts or offers. Stick to what you are really looking for in a mattress which is comfort.

I too like the mattress store locator, although many people do not do enough research online before going shopping at their nearest mattress retailer.
A half hour or more of finding and reading reviews of the product they are thinking about buying will give at least a good enough education regarding that particular mattress to know whether the local salesman knows what he is talking about. Zach Smith said it right. “Stick to what you are really looking for in a mattress which is comfort”.
